Pre-register many visitors at once by uploading a CSV file. For example, upload the guest list for a company event instead of adding each person one by one. Tactic gives you a template with example values, so your first file should work as it is.
To import visitors, you need access to Visitor Management. You must have created at least one visitor type for the office.
Import visitors
- Open Visitor Management from the left menu.
- Click Invite and choose Import guests.
In the Import guests window:
- Choose the Office.
- Choose the Visitor type. The list unlocks once you pick an office.
- Choose the Date format in your file. It starts as DD/MM/YYYY, or MM/DD/YYYY for offices in the United States. Change it if your spreadsheet uses a different order.
- Click Download CSV template, fill it in and save it as a CSV file (up to 5 MB). Its second row is an example. Replace it or delete it before importing.
- Drag your CSV file into the upload area, or click Upload a file, then click Start import.
Follow the import on the Bulk imports tab of Visitor Management, where you can open an import to see the result for each row.
Columns in the file
The template already has the right columns for the visitor type you chose. Required columns are marked with an asterisk in the window.
| Column | What to enter |
|---|---|
email |
The visitor's email. Required. |
name |
The visitor's full name. Required. |
expected_date |
The day of the visit, in the date format you picked. The format YYYY-MM-DD is always accepted. Required. |
expected_time |
The time of the visit, in the office's time zone, for example 2:30 PM or 14:30. Required. |
host_email |
The host's email. Only for visitor types that need a host. The host must be in your organization's directory. |
_visit_field_… |
One column for each custom field on the visitor type. Phone numbers without a country code use the office's country. Checkbox fields accept true or false. |
Troubleshooting
Dates are wrong or rejected. Check that Date format in your file matches your spreadsheet. If day and month are swapped, pick the other order and import again.
A row fails. Open the import on the Bulk imports tab to read the error for that row. The most common causes are a host who isn't in your directory and a missing required value.
The example row was imported. The second row of the template is an example. Replace or delete it before you upload.
If you're still having trouble, contact support@gettactic.com and include a screenshot of the import's error messages.
