Tactic Station can print visitor badges as part of the Visitor Management check-in experience. Once a printer is configured, visitors can print a badge after completing their check-in.
Printer settings are managed directly from the Tactic Station app. You do not need to install a separate printer app on the iPad or tablet.
Before you begin
Before setting up badge printing:
- Make sure your Visitor Station is already created and linked to the Tactic Station app.
- Make sure your printer is powered on and available to the device.
- Have your badge labels loaded and ready to print.
- Have your Visitor Station Admin Code available. You can find the Admin Code in Tactic under Profile > Settings > Visitor Manager > Visitor Stations.
Open Printer Setup
From the main screen of the Tactic Station app:
- Press and hold your company logo. If your station does not have a logo, press and hold the area directly above the Welcome message.
- Enter the Visitor Station's Admin Code when prompted.
- From the Maintenance menu, select Printer Setup.
Select your printer type
Under Select Printer Type, choose the option that matches how you want to print your visitor badges.
Generic (Print Dialog)
Select Generic (Print Dialog) to print through your device's system print dialog.
This option passes the badge to the iPad or tablet's built-in printing functionality, where you can select an available printer.
Brother
Select Brother when using a supported Brother network label printer.
Configure badge printing
After selecting your printer type:
- Select your preferred badge orientation.
- Send a test print.
- Confirm that the badge prints correctly.
- Save your printer configuration once the test is successful.
Test your setup
Once your printer configuration is saved, complete a test visitor check-in from the Tactic Station.
Confirm that the badge printing option appears and that the visitor badge prints correctly.
Your Tactic Station is now ready to print badges during visitor check-in.
Troubleshooting
If you're unable to print a badge:
- Make sure the printer is powered on and available to the iPad or tablet.
- Return to Printer Setup and confirm the correct printer type is selected.
- If you're having trouble with your printer connection, try Generic (Print Dialog) to print through the device's built-in print dialog.
- Send another test print before testing a full visitor check-in.
If you're still having trouble printing visitor badges, contact support@gettactic.com and include a screenshot or screen recording of what happens when you attempt to print.
