Tactic's Wi-Fi integration automatically checks users into their desk reservations upon showing up at the office. This article will walk you through the steps required to get it set up.
Step 1: Navigate the Wifi tab in Organization Settings
Navigate to the Settings page and select the Organization Settings option on the nav bar. From there, you'll see a couple of tabs along the top. Select the "Wifi" option.
Step 2: Add a New Connection
If you are setting up Wi-Fi check-in for the first time, this page will be empty. If it's been set up for other office locations and you are adding a new location, you will see those other office locations in the table area. In either case, click the "+ New Connection" button towards the top right of the screen.
Step 3: Pick Between Wi-Fi SSID or Public IP
Wi-Fi SSID: This option leverages the name of the Wi-Fi to check users into their reservations. For example, if my office Wi-FI name is "dundermifflin" when my computer connects to a new network, Tactic will check if the new network's name matches "dundermifflin". If it does, it will automatically check me into my reservation.
Public IP: This option will check users into their reservations if the IP address network the user connects to matches the IP address of the office. (You can find the IP address by simply Googling "What's my IP address" when at the office).
NOTE: When possible, we recommend using Public IP for a couple of reasons:
- Public IP supports check-in from devices without WiFi (desktop PCs). In order to use this, the office must have a "static public IP" (one that never changes).
- Users can "trick" the SSID option by changing their home network name to the office network name.
Step 4: Fill out remaining fields
- Offices: Select which office(s) you're wanting this connection for
- Subnet Masks: Mandatory only if "Enforce Subnet Validation" is enabled. When enabled the user must be connected to the given subnets to be checked-in. These are the private IPs you can have when you connect in the office (IT department should have this info).
Step 5: Save
Once saved, users that have the Tactic desktop app downloaded will now be automatically checked into their reservations!
Note: WiFi Check In is only compatible with the Tactic Desktop App open and running. To download the app please follow the steps here.
