Overview
Workplace Requests is a new feature in Tactic designed to make it simple for employees to submit office-related issues or requests, and for facilities or workplace teams to manage them efficiently.
With Workplace Requests, employees can quickly report anything that needs attention—such as low supplies or a maintenance issue—and workplace teams can track, assign, and resolve those requests directly inside Tactic.
Setting Up Workplace Request Types (Admin Only)
Before users can submit requests, admins can create and configure different request types from the Settings area.
To create a Workplace Request type:
Click on your Profile on the bottom-left of the page and select Settings
Click Workplace Requests.
Click +New Type.
-
Enter a Name and Description for the request type.
Example: “Maintenance Request,” “Catering” or “IT Support.”
Add any team members who should manage this request type. These are called Request Managers.
(Optional) Toggle All to Assigned to display everyone assigned to that type.
Click Add Request Type to save and create the new Workplace Request type.
Once created, the request type will appear in the Workplace Requests menu for all members to select when submitting a new request.
Submitting a Workplace Request
After request types have been created, employees can access Workplace Requests from the main menu.
To create a new request:
Click the Workplace Requests icon on the left-hand navigation bar.
Select the +Create Request button.
Enter a Title and Description for the request.
Choose the Request Type you want to submit.
Select the Location where the request is needed.
Click Create Request to submit.
Admins have the option to assign an owner during creation. Standard members will simply submit the request without assigning it.
When submitted, the new request will appear in the list with the status Open and no owner assigned.
Managing Requests
Once a request has been submitted, workplace managers or admins can manage it through the Workplace Requests dashboard.
Key management actions include:
Assign an Owner: Assign a team member to the request. The assigned user will receive a notification.
Add Comments: Post updates or questions to the request thread.
Communicate in Real Time: All comments and updates trigger notifications through Slack, Microsoft Teams, the Tactic mobile app, and email.
Stay Organized: All communication is stored within the request itself, keeping discussions focused and contextual.
This setup allows requesters and managers to communicate directly, ensuring everyone has the context they need to resolve the request quickly.
Linking Requests to Room Reservations
Workplace Requests also integrate with Tactic’s Room Reservations feature.
To add a request to a reservation:
Open the Map and select the Rooms tab, or select a Room from the Map.
Begin creating a new reservation.
In the reservation window, click +Add Request.
Select the Request Type.
Add a Title and Description such as “Meeting with 5 people and would like lunch catered.”
Complete the reservation.
When submitted, the request will automatically include the date, time, and location of the reservation. This helps the request manager fulfill it accurately and on time.
