Integrate with Slack

Walk through the steps required to get Tactic up and running in your Slack workspace.

How to integrate with Slack

If your team uses Slack as its primary communication tool, integrating Tactic with Slack can help streamline workspace bookings and encourage wider adoption across your organization. This guide walks you through the steps to connect Tactic with Slack.

💡 Note: Organization settings are only visible to your company’s designated Tactic Admins.

Step 1: Create a Tactic Channel in Slack

The Tactic Slack app requires a channel where it can post public announcements and notifications.

Before getting started, we recommend creating a dedicated channel, such as #tactic or #tactic-reservations, and ensuring the Tactic bot can be added to that channel.

Step 2: Navigate to Organization Integrations

  1. Log in to your Tactic account.

  2. Click Settings in the bottom left corner, beneath your profile photo.

  3. Select Integrations & Apps from the menu.

  4. On the Integrations page, switch to the Organization Integrations tab.

This tab is only visible to Tactic admins and is where you’ll manage organization-wide integrations, including Slack.

Step 3: Authorise the Tactic App in Slack

After navigating to Organization Integrations in Tactic, locate the Slack integration and click Get Started.

You’ll then be redirected to Slack to authorise the Tactic app.

On this screen, you’ll be asked to:

  • Select the Slack workspace you want to connect

  • Choose the Slack channel you created in Step 1 (for example, #tactic-reservations), where Tactic will post announcements and notifications

Once the correct workspace and channel are selected, click Allow to grant permission.

This step installs and authorises the Tactic app in your Slack workspace.

Confirm the integration

After authorisation:

  • You may be redirected back to Slack automatically (either in the browser or desktop app)

  • This is expected behaviour

To confirm the integration was successful:

  1. Open Slack

  2. Go to any channel

  3. Type /tactic

If the command appears or you receive a response from the Tactic bot, the setup is complete.

Once this is done, the Slack integration will be active for your organisation, and each user can finish setting up their account by following the Users section above.

Happy scheduling!
