Leave Internal Notes on Workplace Requests

Not every reply on a workplace request is meant for the person who filed it. With internal notes, request managers can leave a note for their team on a request, for example "Checked the room, will fix on Monday", and the requester never sees it.

Only request managers of the request's type can post internal notes. Everyone else sees just the regular replies. To make someone a request manager, see Setting Up Workplace Request Types in the related article below.

Add an internal note on the web

  1. Click the Workplace Requests icon in the left-hand navigation bar and open a request.
  2. At the bottom of the request, click Internal note. The text next to the tabs changes to "Only visible to your team", and the box turns yellow so you can tell it apart from a reply.
  3. Type your note in the Add an internal note… box.
  4. Click Send, or press Enter.

The comment box at the bottom of a workplace request with the Internal note tab selected. The note box is yellow, a note is typed in it, and the label on the right reads Only visible to your team.

To go back to a regular reply, click Reply. Replies show who will see them, for example "Visible to" followed by the requester's name.

Add an internal note in the mobile app

  1. Open a request in the Tactic mobile app.
  2. Switch from Reply to Internal note above the comment box.
  3. Type your note and send it.

How internal notes look

In the request's activity, an internal note has a yellow background and an Internal badge. Your team sees the badge, and the requester doesn't see the note at all.

Edit or delete your own comments in the mobile app

You can change or remove your own comments, including internal notes, from the mobile app:

  1. Open a request and find your comment in the Activity timeline.
  2. Press and hold the comment. A menu called Your comment opens.
  3. Tap Edit, change the text and tap Save. Or tap Delete, then confirm with Delete in the Delete comment? message. Deleting can't be undone.

You can only edit or delete comments you wrote yourself. On the web, use the edit and delete icons next to your comment.

Troubleshooting

I don't see the Internal note tab. Only request managers of the request's type can post internal notes. Ask an admin to add you as a request manager for that type.

I can't edit or delete a comment in the mobile app. You can only change your own comments. Press and hold the comment for about a second.

If you still need help, contact support@gettactic.com and include a screenshot of the request and the comment box.
