What is Tactic?
Tactic is a workplace experience platform that brings your hybrid team together. It helps you reserve desks and meeting rooms, see where teammates are sitting, and plan your in-office schedule.
What is the Dashboard?
The Dashboard is the main screen you see after logging in. It shows your weekly schedule and allows you to make desk reservations or view where others are working.
What is the Timeline view?
The Timeline view shows desk availability across time in a horizontal layout. It’s helpful for scanning availability across multiple days before booking.
Joining and Signing In
How do I sign in to Tactic?
Go to www.gettactic.com and click Login. Enter your email address and you’ll be directed to the correct sign-in method, whether that’s password, Google, or your company’s Single Sign-On.
I signed in but don’t see the Dashboard. Why?
If you don’t see the Dashboard after signing in, you may need to join your organization. You’ll be prompted to enter a join code to continue.
How do I join my organization?
You can join by:
Accepting an email invitation
Using a join link
Entering a join code
Signing in through your company’s Single Sign-On if Directory Sync is enabled
An Admin in your organization can provide you with a join code if you need one.
I never received an invite email. What should I do?
Reach out to an Admin in your organization. They can resend your invitation or provide a join code so you can join manually.
Booking Desks
How do I book a desk?
From the Dashboard, click Make Reservation. Select a desk, choose the date and time, confirm the details, and click Reserve.
You can also book from the Map or the Timeline view.
Can I book multiple days at once?
Yes. When creating a reservation, you can select multiple days using the date picker before confirming your booking.
If your organization allows recurring reservations, you’ll also see a “Does Not Repeat” dropdown. You can choose options like Repeats Every Day or Weekly on Monday, then select an end date for the series.
Why do I get an error when creating a reservation?
There are a few common reasons this can happen:
The selected date is beyond your organization’s Future Reservation Limit. This applies to both single and recurring reservations. If you’re unsure what the limit is, contact your Admin.
The reservation overlaps with an existing booking.
The workspace is unavailable or closed on one of the selected dates.
If you continue seeing an error, double-check the date range and confirm availability on the map before booking.
How do I cancel a reservation?
Go to your reservation on the Dashboard, click the three dots, and select Remove. From the Map View, you can click on your reservation, click the three dots, and select Cancel Reservation. You can cancel at any time.
Why can’t I book some desks on the map?
Some desks are assigned to specific people or teams. These desks show a yellow dot with the word “Assigned” and cannot be booked unless you have permission.
If you believe you should have access, contact your Admin to verify your permissions.
Why are some desks grey?
Grey desks are either have been made unavailable or are restricted based on office hours. Only desks you’re allowed to reserve and that are available during the time selected will appear green.
Can I see where my teammates are sitting?
Yes. Reservations appear on the Map view with profile photos or initials, making it easy to see where others are sitting. You can also find teammates via the Search button or by asking Tessa.
Why did my booking disappear?
There are a few common reasons a reservation may no longer appear:
It was cancelled by you or someone with permission to manage reservations.
It was automatically removed due to your organization’s check-in policy. Some organizations require users to check in when they arrive. If you do not check in within the required time window, the reservation may be automatically cancelled.
If you’re unsure what happened, contact your Admin to verify your organization’s reservation and check-in settings.
Attendance and Schedule
How does Tactic know if I’m in the office or working remotely?
Tactic uses your Default Working Location to determine your status. This updates automatically when you make or change reservations.
You can update this by clicking your profile photo in the bottom-left corner and editing your profile.
Do I need a desk reservation to show as in-office?
No. Your attendance is based on your Default Working Location. However, reserving a desk ensures you have a workspace.
Why doesn’t my schedule show up for others?
This usually means your Default Working Location is not set. Update it in your profile to ensure your schedule appears correctly.
Profile Settings
How do I update my profile?
Click your profile photo in the bottom-left corner and select your profile or Settings. You can update your name, job title, timezone, default office, and more.
Why is my timezone or default office important?
Your timezone and default office affect your reservations and schedule visibility. Keeping them accurate helps prevent booking issues.
Admin FAQs
The questions below are intended for Admins, Schedulers, and Team Managers.
Can I book a desk for someone else?
Admins, Schedulers, and Team Managers can reserve workspaces on behalf of other users.
If you don’t see the option to create a reservation for someone else, your account may not have the required permission. Contact your Admin to verify your role and organization settings.
Can reservations be edited or deleted?
Yes. Users with appropriate permissions can cancel or edit reservations from the Map or manage them from the Admin page.
Why can’t I edit a reservation that already started?
Reservations that are already in progress cannot be edited, but they can still be cancelled.
Can recurring reservations be managed?
Yes. Recurring reservations can be edited or deleted individually, for future instances, or entirely from the Admin section. When you attempt to delete a recurring reservation, you will have three options:
Delete This Reservation
Delete This and All Future Reservations
Delete All Reservations
